New Build ADU – 2021

This attached ADU project was designed to complement the historic character of a 1939 English Tudor home while providing a fully self-contained living space. The goal was to create an accessory dwelling unit that felt cohesive with the original house, rather than appearing as a separate or competing structure.

To preserve the home’s architectural integrity, the ADU’s exterior was carefully detailed to mirror the Tudor style. The roofline, scale, siding, and window proportions were thoughtfully adjusted to suit the smaller footprint while remaining visually aligned with the main residence. A small covered front porch reinforces the connection between old and new, helping the addition feel naturally integrated.

Inside, the layout maximizes functionality within a compact footprint of under 800 square feet. An open floor plan minimizes wasted space, while large glass openings, including a wide sliding door to a private patio, bring in abundant natural light. Nine-foot ceilings, light-toned LVP flooring, and quartz kitchen countertops contribute to a bright, modern interior that balances efficiency, comfort, and long-term livability.
